A Better Way To Rename Files
Better File Rename is a wonderful piece of software that has personally saved me an incredible amount of time. The name is very descriptive.
If you're a Windows user like me, Explorer is a pathetically primitive utility for changing file names. The biggest and most obvious limitation is that it doesn't work on a directory level.
So - if you had a hundred files in one directory, and needed to make some kind of change in the format of each file name - such as appending or removing something at the beginning or end of the file name, or changing the file extension, Window's Explorer would make you do this one file at a time. Insane!
In contrast, Better File Rename operates on a directory level. Furthermore, it is a very well designed program. It does one thing and does it very well. Not only is it robust but it is also quite intuitive and easy to figure out.
In a nutshell, it allows you to do just about anything you could possibly want to do in terms of modifying multiple file names with just a few actions.
It's a great little piece of software that I highly recommend - if you ever have a need to change large numbers of file names.
Public Space is the company behind this software. They have a small line of utility software - all quality stuff - for both the Windows and Mac platforms. I have no relationship with the company other than being a fan of their software.
