A Vaccine For Girls
Merck recently created a new vaccine that immunizes girls from the sexually transmitted papillomavirus - which is closely linked to cervical cancer.
The vaccine is administered in three shots (about $350) and is most effective when taken before the girl becomes sexually active. Girls 9 and up can be vaccinated.
This vaccine was one of Time Magazine's best inventions of 2006.
