Take Your Pick - Heaven Or Earth
Ever wished you could know which night was best for seeing the Northern Lights? Now you can. Check out this neat website at Aurora Borealis forecast page. Even if you don’t live up North, the page is worth a look regardless.
This page from the Geophysical Institute shows a view of the earth and the daily predictions for Aurora Borealis activity. You can change views to focus on a location near your home and see if you just might be able to step outside at night to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. There are other links on the page for more information on solar activity and space weather - pretty cool stuff overall!
If you’re more into having your two feet on the ground rather than your eyes on the heavens, check out this page from the Alaska Earthquake Information Center for earthquake activity. If there is dynamiting going on in your area, the tremors will show up on the map.
Into large mass movement and fire rather than ice? Well, Alaska doesn’t just have sites for cool weather stuff about freezing, snowy places. The Alaska Volcano Observatory posts up volcanic activity info and has some pretty nice pics to check out - volcanic mountains sure can be pretty!
